A bit wild this afternoon with gusty S/SW winds and frequent short sharp showers just to keep us refreshed. Eight hardy souls braved the elements but Fred Webber decided it  was a little too damp for him. However, being the sturdy Kiwi that he is, he kindly stayed and weathered the elements and did the scoring for us …thanks Fred.

The big waves were a bit too much for Wayne Coleman's buoy-deploying tugboat as it was shipping water all over the decks and decided it was better to head back to port. We did manage to put out a couple of buoys in with Rob Bovell’s airboat catamaran after some dextrous boat handling by Rob.  

Bruce Robins bravely chose  the “A+ ” rig for the first one lap test run in which we didn’t score, to allow for some not so fine tuning.  However, he decided that “A” was the better choice, as we all did. Rob Bovell blitzed the first 2 races , however in race 3 and 4 Bruce had his boat flying to take out 2 wins, but a broken boom ended his racing for the afternoon unfortunately.  Rob B mastered the difficult conditions superbly with 5 wins and a second to count for 7 points.  Excellent sailing Rob, his extra racing at Austin Lakes is really paying off.  Barry Glazier did a great job in coming second with 12 points, with a win and 4 seconds. In 3rd place with 16 points Wayne Coleman couldn’t quite get a win but was pipped into 2nd on 3 occasions.  Well done guys. Full results below.

It was good to see Rob Turton back onboard after a bout of the 'flu and also son Ian Turton who showed some really good pace in the last couple of races. Pennants Courtesy of club member Guy Skinner were presented to the winners by Fred Webber. Thanks again everyone for helping collect up the buoys after racing.
