Testing times for six hardy sailors
It was testing times for the 6 hardy souls that braved the somewhat warm and fickle conditions. Tricky ENE to ESE'ly winds tested the concentration as gusts and lulls appeared then disappeared. Funny how the gusts always find the top guys and us mere mortals languish in the "doldrums". . Good to see Barry Glazier out with his "new" 95, Barry did extremely well considering this was the first time on the water.
Talking of water, 2 nameless persons were seen retrieving recalcitrant yachts for various reasons, you would think the secretary would remember to switch on his boat before sending it off on its merry way.......come on guys who hasn't done that at least once. !!!!!
As you can see from the attached results, Ron Viney won 6 of the 8 races completed ,well done Ron. Kim Klaka must be in line for the most improved sailor this season with some great results. Rob Bovell showed some flashes of super speed and, apart from race 6, was up there. The secretary (moi) should have gone home after the first race, not sure what happened there.
Kevin Mathews sailed really well, again the numbers don't show how close some of the races were.....his trips to Austin Lakes are really helping.
Once again a very enjoyable couple of hours with some pretty pleasant skippers..come and try it out......sorry about you workers though.
Next Sunday 13th March we have at least 6 guests from RFBYC coming to Castlewood Parkway to sail the DF 65's 'A' rig only. So I hope you will make the effort and make it a fun couple of hours racing.
Happy Sailing
Keith Morris
